Hamburg Soup - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped onion
4 c. water
2 c. sliced carrots
1 c. diced celery
2 c. cubed potatoes
2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
1/8 tsp. basil
6 tomatoes or 1 (28 oz.) can
Preparation

In a large saucepan brown meat, then drain the fat.
Add onion and cook until tender (5 minutes).
Stir in all ingredients except the tomatoes.
Heat to boiling, then reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes, then add tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes more. Serves 6.
