Mile-High Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 Tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. shortening (Crisco)
    1 egg, beaten
    3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Combine first 5 ingredients.
    Mix well.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
    Combine egg and milk.
    Add to flour.
    Knead mixture 8 to 10 times.
    Roll dough to 1 inch thickness.
    Cut with 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.
    Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
    Yields 15 biscuits.
