Red Cherry Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (No. 2) can sour cherries (2 1/2 c.)
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. almond extract
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Drain cherries and save juice.
    Combine cornstarch, sugar and salt.
    Stir in 3/4 cup cherry juice.
    Cook until thick and clear. Add almond extract.
    Pour over cherries in a 9-inch pastry lined pie pan. Dot with butter.
    Cover with top pastry (pie dough). Trim edges and bake in hot 425\u00b0 oven for about 40 minutes.
