Danish Open-Faced Sandwiches - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 onions
    4 slices brown bread
    2 Tbsp. butter
    4 Tbsp. chopped dill
    8 sardines (canned)
    2 tomatoes
    1 c. chopped, peeled cucumber
    1/2 c. mayonnaise or sour cream
    1/2 tsp. sugar
Preparation
    Peel onions and cut into thin slices.
    Pour over boiling water and leave to cool.
    Spread the bread thinly with butter and sprinkle over half of the dill.
    Drain the sardines and arrange 2 on each piece of bread.
    Cut the tomatoes into thick slices. Place the drained onion and tomato slices on the sardines and top with cucumber mixed with mayonnaise or sour cream, sugar and remaining dill.
    Serves 4.
