Opal'S One Egg Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 egg
2 c. self-rising flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. orange flavoring
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening

Preparation

Separate egg.
Set white aside.
Mix flour, sugar, shortening and egg yolk.
Add milk and flavoring.
Beat until smooth. Pour into a 9 x 12-inch pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
Take out of oven.
Beat egg white and 1/4 cup sugar.
Add another teaspoon flavoring.
Spread on top of cake.
Return to oven for about 10 minutes.
Serve while hot.
