Key Lime Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. (3 oz.) lime gelatin
1 c. boiling water
1 to 2 tsp. grated lime rind
1/2 c. lime juice
1 egg yolk, well beaten
1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz.)
1 tsp. Angostura Bitters
1 egg white
few drops green food coloring
1 baked (9-inch) pie shell, cooled
Preparation

Dissolve gelatin in boiling water; add lime rind and juice and pour slowly into beaten egg yolk, stirring continually.
Add condensed milk and Bitters and chill until slightly thickened. Stir to avoid gelatin settling on bottom of bowl.
Beat egg white until stiff peaks form.
Fold into gelatin mixture.
Add food coloring.
Pour into pie shell and chill until firm (about 3 hours).
Garnish with whipped cream or whipped topping and lime slices if desired.
