Yorkshire Parkin - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. flour
    2 c. oatmeal
    1 c. molasses
    1 egg
    1/3 c. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. milk
    3/4 c. sugar
    2 level tsp. baking powder
    1 level tsp. soda
    1 level tsp. ginger
Preparation
    Sift together the flour, baking powder and ginger, and then add the sugar and oatmeal.
    Heat the butter and molasses to boiling point, add to the dry ingredients with the egg and milk.
    Add the soda dissolved in a tablespoon of hot water.
    Beat well; turn into a well-greased, shallow pan and bake slowly about one and one-half hours.
