Strawberry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large and 1 small pkg. strawberry jello
    1 large can crushed pineapple
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries
    1/4 c. sugar
    2 c. boiling water
    1 (8 oz.) container cream cheese
    1/2 c. confectioners sugar
    1 large container Cool Whip
    1/4 tsp. vanilla
    1/4 c. jello mixture
    nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Mix jello, sugar and water.
    Reserve 1/4 cup of jello mixture to add to topping.
    Add pineapple, including juice, and strawberries to jello mixture; place dish in refrigerator a while to congeal.
    When jello mixture is stiffened, beat remaining ingredients together and spread on top of salad.
    Sprinkle top with nuts, if desired.
