Christmas Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. white sugar
    2 c. light brown sugar
    1 c. heavy cream
    1/2 c. butter
    pinch of cream of tartar
    1 c. chopped dates
    1 c. shredded coconut
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Boil sugars, cream and butter to soft ball stage.
    Add dates and cook 5 to 8 minutes more, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat and add coconut, nuts, vanilla and cream of tartar.
    Stir enough to blend well.
    Pour into buttered pan.
    Cut when cool. Candy is best if packed in a container and left to age for a week or so.
