Peach Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. fresh peaches
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 well-beaten egg
    2 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Arrange sliced peaches in greased 8 x 8 x 2-inch pan.
    Sprinkle with mixture of 1 cup sugar and lemon juice.
    Heat in oven while preparing short cake.
    Mix flour, baking powder, 1 tablespoon sugar and salt.
    Add shortening and egg.
    Stir well.
    Spread dough over hot peaches.
    Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar.
    Bake in hot oven at 400\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes.
    Makes 8 servings.
