Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 c. Karo light corn syrup
    1/2 c. whipping cream
    2 c. whipping cream
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Bring to a boil.
    Gradually add 2 cups whipping cream.
    Keep mixture boiling over low heat.
    Cook until medium firm ball forms when tested in cold water.
    Add vanilla.
    Pour into buttered 9 x 13-inch pan.
    When cool and firm, cut in small pieces and wrap in waxed paper.
