Red Earth Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. butter or margarine
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 c. buttermilk
4 Tbsp. cocoa
3 tsp. red food coloring
1 tsp. vanilla
3 Tbsp. hot coffee
dash of salt

Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Beat in eggs, one at a time.
Mix together cocoa, coffee, red food coloring and vanilla.
Stir into mixture.
Add soda to buttermilk.
Add flour and buttermilk to mixture alternately.
Bake in two 9-inch layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
Ice with your favorite frosting.
You can use a 9 x 12-inch sheet cake pan.
