Minute Egg Dressing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 slices bread
    1 egg
    1/2 c. olive or salad oil
    1/4 tsp. red pepper or to taste
    1/4 tsp. salt or to taste
    1/2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 clove garlic
    3/4 c. grated Italian cheese (Parmesan)
    1 Tbsp. vinegar (approximately)
Preparation
    Cut bread into tiny cubes.
    Place butter in iron frying pan over lowest heat.
    Add bread; cook until crisp, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
    Put egg into bowl; mince garlic and add.
    Beat well with rotary beater.
    Add oil, a little at a time; continue beating until mixture begins to thicken.
    (In order to get the mixture to thicken, it may be necessary to use a little less or a little more than 1/2 cup oil.)
    Add cheese, red pepper and salt; beat well.
    Add vinegar; beat well.
    Just before serving, add bread cubes.
    Pour over lettuce; toss well.
    Serves 4.
