Divinity Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    5 Tbsp. Karo syrup
    3/4 c. water
    3 egg whites
    1 c. nuts, chopped or coconut, raisins or cherries
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook sugar, syrup and water until small amount dropped in cold water forms a ball. Beat egg whites in a large mixing bowl until they won't pour out if bowl is turned upside down. Slowly beat hot syrup into egg whites. Reheat syrup as necessary to keep it bubbling while adding to egg whites.
    Beat until it loses it's gloss.
    Add flavoring and nuts.
    Spread at once in large platter. Cut into squares and let cool.
    Makes 2 1/4 pounds of candy.
