Caramel Frosting - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 c. milk or cream
Preparation
    Combine sugar and milk and bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
    Then cook without stirring until a small amount of syrup forms a soft ball in cold water (232\u00b0).
    Add butter and remove from heat.
    Cool to lukewarm (110\u00b0); beat until thick and creamy and right consistency to spread.
    If desired, place over hot water to keep soft while spreading.
    Makes enough frosting to cover tops and sides of 2 (9-inch) cakes or top and sides of an 8 x 8 x 2-inch cake or about 2 dozen cupcakes.
