Mother'S Caramel Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. white sugar
    1 c. whipping cream
    1/4 c. white corn syrup
    1/4 tsp. soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    butter or margarine equal to the size of an egg
Preparation
    Combine sugar, cream, syrup, salt and butter.
    Stir while cooking over medium heat.
    When mixture starts to boil, add soda and stop stirring.
    Cook to soft ball stage.
    Cool 5 minutes. Beat until it holds its shape.
    Pour into buttered pan or drip on wax paper.
    Also makes excellent cake icing.
