Shanty Bean Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. dry lima beans
    3/4 lb. bacon, cut in 1-inch pieces, brown and drain
    3/4 lb. brown sugar
    3/4 to 1 small king syrup
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Soak limas overnight and drain.
    Add fresh water to cover beans.
    Cook until soft.
    Add ingredients; simmer all day.
    (Must be sweet enough.)
