Braised Round Steak - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. round steak
flour
1 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 bay leaf
1/2 tsp. diced onion
salt and pepper to taste
4 medium carrots, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
2 c. hot water
2 bouillon cubes
4 medium potatoes, cut in half
Preparation

Cut steak in serving pieces or in thin strips.
Dissolve bouillon cubes in the hot water.
Dredge meat in flour.
Brown on both sides in shortening.
Add bay leaf, onion, salt and pepper, water with the bouillon cubes, carrots and potatoes.
Cover and cook over low heat 50 minutes or until meat and vegetables are tender.
(I like to add zucchini the last 15 minutes of cooking time.)
