Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers, sliced thin
    8 onions, chopped
    6 sweet peppers, chopped
    1/2 c. coarse salt
    4 trays ice
    4 c. sugar
    4 c. vinegar
    2 tsp. turmeric
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. mustard seed
    1/2 tsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Mix cucumbers, peppers and onions.
    Sprinkle salt over the top of the mixture, then add the ice.
    Set 3 hours.
    Drain water off. Mix together sugar, vinegar, turmeric, cloves, mustard seed and celery seed and pour over cucumbers.
    Bring to a boiling point, but do not boil.
    Fill hot jars and seal.
