Date Balls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter
    1 egg
    1 c. sugar
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
    3 c. Rice Krispies
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 can coconut
Preparation
    Melt butter in skillet.
    Add dates and sugar to butter.
    Stir and cook
    until mixture thickens and turns dark brown (3 to 5 minutes).
    After mixture boils, add vanilla.
    Remove from heat and add Rice Krispies.
    Cool slightly and form into small balls.
    Roll in coconut or powdered sugar.
