Mulled Cider - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 quarts sweet apple cider
    1/2 cup sugar
    8 3 inch cinnamon sticks, cracked
    20 whole cloves
    20 whole allspice
    Cinnamon sticks
Preparation
    Combine cider, sugar, cracked cinnamon sticks, cloves and allspice in large saucepan.
    Heat over very low heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar is dissolved (do not boil).
    Remove from heat.
    Let stand several hours to let flavor develop.
    Strain cider.
    Return to saucepan.
    Heat just until hot.
    Serve garnished with cinnamon sticks.
    Yield:
    2 quarts.
