Sally Lunn - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. water (110~ to 115~)
    2 pkg. active dry yeast
    1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. soft shortening
    5 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Measure 1/2 cup water into mixing bowl.
    Add yeast, stirring to dissolve.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Beat until smooth (100 strokes).
    Cover.
    Let rise until very light (1 hour).
    Beat down; pour into greased 10-inch tube pan.
    Let rise to within 1-inch of top of pan (45 minutes).
    Bake until golden brown and crusty.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 to 50 minutes.
    Makes 16 servings.
