Ingredients

3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 c. milk
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate bits
1 tsp. vanilla
1 baked and cooled (9-inch) pie shell
Preparation

In saucepan, mix sugar, flour and salt.
Add 1 cup milk. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring briskly until thickened. Remove from heat.
Beat egg with remaining 1 cup milk.
Gradually stir into hot mixture.
Put back on heat; boil until mixture thickens.
Remove from heat; add chocolate bits, butter and vanilla.
