Sherrill'S Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. white corn syrup
    2/3 c. water
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    pecan halves
Preparation
    In a saucepan, combine sugar, salt, corn syrup and water.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves.
    Bring to a boil.
    Meanwhile, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry.
    When syrup mixture reaches 230\u00b0 on candy thermometer, pour slowly over egg whites, beating constantly until the mixture begins to lose its gloss and holds its shape.
    Add vanilla and working quickly, drop by teaspoon on waxed paper.
    Top immediately with a pecan half. Yields 4 dozen.
