German Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large cabbage, shredded fine
    1 large onion, sliced thin
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. prepared mustard
    3/4 c. salad oil
Preparation
    Place alternate layers of cabbage and onions in a large bowl. Cover
    with
    sugar and sprinkle with celery seed.
    Boil together vinegar,
    salt
    and
    mustard.
    Add oil and bring to a boil again. Pour
    over cabbage and onions; do not mix.\tCover and
    refrigerate 24 hours;
    stir and serve.\tKeeps indefinitely.
    Grated carrot could be added for color.
