Boiled Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. raisins
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    3 c. boiling water
    3 to 4 c. flour
    2 tsp. baking soda
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation
    Mix the raisins, shortening, sugar and boiling water together and boil for 10 minutes.
    Let cool.
    Sift flour, soda, cinnamon and cloves together.
    Add to the boiled raisins mixture.
    Then bake in oven at about 375\u00b0 for at least an hour.
    Test with toothpick after the first 1/2 hour, so that it does not bake too fast.
    Fruit and nuts can be added to the raisin mixture before adding the dry mixture.
    It looks like a fruit cake when done.
