1 1/8 c. sugar
3/4 c. boiling water, divided
Preparation

Put sugar and 1/2 cup water in a heavy skillet and stir over heat until the mixture is a deep golden brown.
The deeper the color the more caramel flavor the syrup has.
Remove from heat and add remaining 1/4 cup boiling water slowly while stirring.\tLet mixture cool slightly.
