Beef And Potato Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. cubed beef stew meat
    1 large onion
    4 medium potatoes
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms
    1/2 c. milk
    1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom or celery soup
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. sour cream
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
    buttered bread crumbs
Preparation
    Brown beef and onion in butter over medium heat until the meat is brown and the onion is tender.
    Season to taste.
    Reserve liquid from mushrooms; add 1/2 cup milk or enough to make 1 cup. Stir mushrooms and liquid into meat and simmer for 2 hours.
    Place meat in 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
    Arrange potatoes over meat.
