Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
6 eggs, divided
1/2 c. flour
2 cans sweetened condensed milk
1/4 c. whole milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
16 oz. fresh (not frozen) coconut
2 baked (9-inch) deep dish pie shells
Preparation

Mix egg yolks and sugar.
Add flour and milk alternately.
Mix well and add vanilla.
Put in double boiler over medium-high heat. Cook until thick, keeping stirred.
Add coconut.
Pour into pie shells.
Beat egg whites until almost stiff.
Add 1/2 cup sugar. Beat again.
Brown in oven.
Makes 2 pies.
