Slaw - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 medium cabbage, shredded (about 3 lb.)
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 medium size green pepper, chopped (optional)
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. white vinegar
    3/4 c. vegetable oil
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. celery seed
    1 tsp. dry mustard
Preparation
    Combine cabbage, onion and green pepper, if desired, in a large bowl.
    Sprinkle with sugar and stir well.
    Cover and chill for 2 hours.
    Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients in a saucepan.
    Bring to a boil, stirring, until salt dissolves.
    Pour hot vinegar mixture over cabbage mixture.
    Toss well.
    Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
    Serve with a slotted spoon.
    Yields 6 servings.
