Basic Layer Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. (scant) butter or margarine
    4 eggs
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. milk
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sift flour with
    baking
    powder and salt.
    Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, one
    at
    a
    time, beating well after each addition.
    Alternately add\tsmall amounts of flour mixture and milk.
    Blend well after
    each addition.
    Add vanilla.
    Bake in 3 layer pans in 350\u00b0\toven for 25 to 30 minutes.
    Put together with desired icing.
