Plain Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    4 Tbsp. corn syrup
    1 1/2 c. water
    6 egg whites, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 coconuts, grated
Preparation
    Cook
    sugar, corn syrup and water for 20 minutes (248\u00b0) or until
    firm
    ball forms when tried in cold water.
    Let cool for 5 to 10 minutes, then pour slowly over the stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Add
    vanilla
    and
    beat until it holds its shape. Spread the
    layers
    and
    sides,
    sprinkling
    the top with dry coconut.
