Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. margarine
    1/2 c. butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    6 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    3/4 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 c. flour
    3/4 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. coconut
    1 c. pecans
    1/2 c. maraschino cherries
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Cream margarine, butter and sugar.
    Add egg yolks one at a time.
    Add buttermilk alternately with dry ingredients ending with flour.
    Add cherries, pecans, vanilla and coconut.
    Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and fold in.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 in three 9-inch greased layer pans for 30 to 40 minutes.
