Israeli Thick Lentil Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dried lentils (unsoaked)
    1 c. chopped onion
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    4 ribs celery, shredded or minced
    2 carrots, shredded or minced
    2 Tbsp. chopped, fresh parsley
    3 c. fat free chicken broth
    3 c. water
    1 bay leaf
    1/2 tsp. ground cumin
    pinch of dried thyme
    pinch of turmeric or curry powder (optional)
    salt and pepper to taste
    2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    1 c. diced, cooked chicken or turkey
Preparation
    It is not necessary to presoak lentils before using them. Simply combine all ingredients, except lemon juice and poultry meat.
    Cover and simmer 50 to 60 minutes.
    Stir in lemon juice and chicken.
