Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, finely shredded
    1 small onion, sliced in rings
    1 small green pepper, chopped
    3 stalks celery, sliced
    1 can water chestnuts, sliced
    10 oz. pkg. frozen peas, cooked, cooled and drained
    1 pt. Hellmann's mayonnaise
    4 hard-boiled eggs
    8 slices crisp bacon
    6 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
Preparation
    In a glass bowl, layer ingredients in order given.
    After layer of peas, spread mayonnaise over top to seal.
    Sift Parmesan cheese over mayonnaise. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
    When ready to serve, add sliced eggs and bacon (crumbled). Toss to blend.
