Otto'S Onion Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 large onions, peeled and thinly sliced
    3 Tbsp. butter
    1 (10-inch) pie shell, partially baked (10 minutes)
    1 c. milk, divided
    1 c. cottage cheese
    1 c. sour cream
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    3 eggs, beaten
    1 Tbsp. flour
    1/3 c. grated Cheddar cheese
    cooked ham or bacon (optional)
Preparation
    Simmer onions until soft in hot butter.
    Turn into pie shell. Combine 3/4 cup milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, salt, pepper and eggs.
    Mix well.
    Blend remaining 1/4 cup milk with flour; stir in cottage cheese mixture.
    Mix well; pour over onions in pie shell. Sprinkle with grated cheese.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Pie should be firm in center.
    If desired, garnish with bacon or cooked ham.
