Cabbage Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large head cabbage, shredded (12 c.)
    1 onion, chopped
    6 Tbsp. butter or margarine, divided
    1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
    8 oz. process American cheese, cubed
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/4 c. dry bread crumbs
Preparation
    Cook cabbage in salted water until tender.
    Drain well.
    In skillet, saute onion in 5 tablespoons margarine or butter until tender.
    Add soup; mix well.
    Add cheese; heat and stir until melted.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in cabbage and seasonings.
    Place in a 2-quart baking dish.
    Melt rest of butter and put in bread crumbs and brown lightly.
    Sprinkle over casserole.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for about 30 minutes.
