Country Fruit Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 c. plain flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. watermelon rind preserves
1 c. chopped nuts
juice of 1 orange
4 egg yolks, beaten
1 c. butter or shortening
1 c. each preserves: peach, cherry and pears *
2 tsp. grated orange rind
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Blend well.
Add preserves, orange rind, juice and nuts.
Mix well.
Pour into a large greased stem pan and bake for 3 to 3 1/2 hours at 325\u00b0.
Raise oven temperature to 375\u00b0 during the last 15 minutes to brown cake.
Cake should feel firm in center when done.
Cool on cake rack before turning out of pan.
