Jan'S Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1/4 c. water
    1/2 c. white Karo
    5 Tbsp. margarine
    2 c. raw peanuts
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook over medium heat sugar, water, Karo, margarine and peanuts, stirring most
    of\tthe time until temperature reaches hard crack stage (310\u00b0).
    Stir constantly from about hard ball stage on.
    Mixture gets
    thick and brown.
    Will scorch easily. You may need
    to
    try
    different temperatures because altitude will make a difference.\t(You
    may
    need to cook beyond 310\u00b0.) Remove from heat.\tAdd soda and vanilla.
    Stir well.
    (Mixture will turn olive drab\tgreen.)
    Pour
    out
    onto buttered cookie sheet.
    Let set about 1 hour before breaking apart.
    Best left uncovered when possible;
    gets sticky in a container.
