Ingredients

1 c. flour
3/4 c. dark brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. pancake syrup
1 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda
9-inch pie crust
Preparation

Mix together flour, sugar and coconut to form crumbs.
Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture for topping in another bowl.
Mix egg, syrup and 3/4 cup hot water.
Add to dry ingredients.
Dissolve baking soda in remaining 1/4 cup hot water.
Add to mixture.
Pour in unbaked pie shell.
Sprinkle with remaining crumbs.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
