Baked Apples(8) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 crisp, sweet apples
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    4 Tbsp. brown sugar
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    8 large pieces lemon peel
    3 Tbsp. softened unsalted butter
    1 Tbsp. dried cherries
    1 vanilla bean
    4 cinnamon sticks
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Slice bottoms off apples and core. Butter a large glass or porcelain dish and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons of sugar.
    Arrange apples upright in dish.
    Fill the center of each apple with 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 piece of lemon peel.
    Rub the top of each apple with 1/4 tablespoon soft butter and sprinkle with more sugar. Sprinkle the dried cherries around apples and add vanilla bean and cinnamon sticks to the dish.
    Bake apples 30 to 45 minutes until soft.
