Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening or oleo
    2 1/4 c. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. nuts
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Melt shortening in large saucepan, add brown sugar and mix well.
    Cool slightly.
    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each one.
    Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, add to saucepan mixture; mix well.
    Add nuts and chocolate chips.
    Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Bake at 325\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool, cut and enjoy.
