German Potato Salad("Hessische Art") - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 lb. white potatoes
    1 medium yellow onion
    1 lb. bacon or salt pork
    4 Tbsp. mayonnaise
    2 bouillon cubes
    2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
    1/2 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Wash and boil potatoes, then peel; cut in slices and put in bowl.
    Peel and dice onion; add to potatoes.
    Cube and fry bacon; when brown, add 2 bouillon cubes and 1/2 cup water.
    Bring to boil.
    Pour over potatoes; mix and add vinegar, spices and mayonnaise.
    Mix everything under; chill for at least 2 hours.
