Ingredients

2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. butternut flavoring
5 eggs (beat one at a time)
1/4 tsp. salt
1 small can evaporated milk, plus water to make 1 c.
3 c. plain flour
1 c. chopped walnuts
1 (10 oz.) bottle maraschino cherries
Preparation

Mix butter, Crisco and sugar until fluffy.
Mix vanilla, eggs, salt, evaporated milk and 2 1/2 cups flour.
Pour 1/2 cup flour over the chopped walnuts and cherries that have been cut in half. Mix and spoon into batter.
Pour into tube pan that has been greased and floured or sprayed with Pam.
Bake in cold oven set at 300\u00b0 for 2 1/4 hours.
