Sweet Potatoes Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. mashed sweet potatoes
    2 c. flour
    1/2 c. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream shortening.
    Gradually add sugar and cream.
    Add eggs and beat well.
    Add sweet potatoes and mix well.
    Sift together all dry ingredients.
    Add to cream mixture alternately with milk. Add nuts and mix well.
    Bake in 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
    Can be served plain or with a cream cheese icing.
