Ingredients

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/4 c. water
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. shortening (Crisco)
1 tsp. salt
1 c. boiling water
3 to 4 c. bread flour
Preparation

Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup water and 1/2 teaspoon sugar.
In large bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar, shortening, salt and boiling water.
Cool to lukewarm and add yeast mixture.
Stir in 3 to 4 cups flour; knead for 10 minutes.
Divide in half.
