Cheryl'S Chocolate Date Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. dates, chopped
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. soda
1 stick butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 c. plus 3 Tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. soda

Preparation

Cook dates in water and 1 teaspoon soda; cool and set aside. Cream butter and sugar.
Add eggs.
Sift flour, salt and 3/4 teaspoon soda together.
Alternate flour and date mixture until well mixed.
Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch pan.
Pour in batter; put topping on batter.
