Presbyterian Johnny Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. all purpose flour
1 c. cornmeal
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Sift flour, soda and salt.
Mix into the shortening, alternating with buttermilk.
Add dry cornmeal and mix.
Pour into an 8x8x2 greased pan.
Bake at 400\u00b0 for 35 to 40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
Serve hot and enjoy
