Chicken Strata(Main Dish) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. diced, cooked chicken
    8 slices day old bread
    1/2 c. each: celery, onion and bell pepper, chopped
    1 c. mayonnaise
    2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1 can cream of mushroom soup (undiluted)
    3 eggs, lightly beaten
    1 1/2 c. milk
    butter or margarine
    1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Preparation
    Butter 2 slices bread and cut into
    1/2 inch cubes; set aside. Cut remaining 6 slices into 1
    inch cubes.
    Place half of unbuttered cubes in bottom of 2
    quart casserole dish.
    Mix together mayonnaise, soup, salt, pepper,
    chicken
    and vegetables. Pour
    over
    bread
    cubes\tin
    dish.
    Place
    remaining unbuttered cubes over top.\tCombine milk
    and eggs;
    pour over bread and chicken mixture.\tLet stand in refrigerator at least 1 hour or overnight.\tPlace buttered bread
    cubes over top and bake at 325\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Place shredded
    cheese
    over top and return to oven until cheese is well melted.
