Date Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1/4 lb. butter or margarine
5 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. candied cherries
2 boxes dates (pitted)
3 slices candied pineapple
2 cups english walnuts
3 cups pecans
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cut up dates, pineapple, cherries, and nuts.
Dredge with a little of the flour and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar, add beaten eggs, flour sifted with baking soda and salt, lemon juice and vanilla.
Pour over fruit and mix well.
Bake in a paper-lined tube pan 1 1/2 hours at 275 degrees.
